Paradise Post-Show with Muslim-American Youth

  • Central Square Theater 450 Massachusetts Avenue Cambridge, MA, 02139 United States (map)

Paradise, a play produced by Underground Railway Theater, is playing from April 6 - May 7, 2017 at the Central Square Theater.

The plot: Yasmeen, a Muslim-American teenager in the Bronx, meets with her teacher Dr. Royston, a mysterious scientist forced to teach high school biology. If she salvages her perfect score, she can claim her independence: pursue her passion for science while honoring her cultural traditions. An unlikely, inspired partnership is created, investigating the neuroscience of adolescent romantic love. Clashes arise out of their conflicts over religion, science, and mentorship as both teacher’s and student’s lives are transformed forever.

Following the show, I will be speaking alongside other Muslim-American youth on a panel, where we will share our reflections on Paradise and our own experiences growing up in the United States. Join us!
